I saw several kids in the mall tonight with no fingernails, just odd looking scars where the nails had been and even saw one with bandages on all 10 fingers. What gives with this? Piercings weren't bad enough?Fingernails removed, the latest trend?
It's sort of weird goth/emo/vampire hybrid ritual the kids are into now a days. Started in LA a few years back and came here to the east coast during this past school year. Whats really gross is seeing kids do this to each other's nails chewing them and most not washing their hands after using the bathroom before.Fingernails removed, the latest trend?

you should get checked out by a doctor as soon as possible, you can be having a problem with your circulation. the only thing i can think of to suggest is to try massaging your hands, and massage down each finger (spend at least a minute on each finger) see if this helps making them look pink again, if this helps then it is from lack of circulation, thats why your nails changed color.Why have my lips and tongue turned a grey colour,also fingernails look slightly grey instead of a healthy pink
I cant give you a diagnosis but I can tell you that you should see a doctor. Grey/blueish nails could be a sign of heart or lung problems.
I think if you are turning grey you are dead. Please accept my condolences.

i only bite my nails when im extemely bored. before i got my braces i always bit my nails and then once i got em i stopped. then after i got em off i started again.
i used to have my fingers in my mouth all the time... then i quit my stressful job and started taking vitamins... all the sudden i started to calm myself and the vitamins (one/day) made my nails really strong and healthy and i stopped biting them!!!

I used to but stopped in my late twenties over 30 years ago - can't remember how BUT





I was in a pub about 10 years ago and the lady who poured my drink obviously bit her nails.


I asked her about it and she, like you, couldn't stop.


I told her to cut her nails really, really short and always carry a nail file with her and every time she wanted to bite one, grind away at it with the nail file till there's nothing left to bite.


Yes you will have very short nails for some time but they would have been short and ugly anyway.


After some time (some say three weeks to break a habit) the need to bite your nails will dissipate.





Anyway the girl saw the friend I was drinking with many months later - he passed on her message that she hadn't bitten her nails for months and they looked quite nice now.

I'd suggest always having pretty nailpolish or a manicure. or try one of those nailpolishes that makes nails stronger, that way you won't be able to bite them.

I had acrylic nails put on, and maintained them for years to lose the habit of biting my nails. You put that kind of money into your nails, you don't bite em. And after a few years I had them taken off, and now grow my own very lovely nails.

im 14 too, and when i was little i always bit my nails. and my mother bought me a nail enamel with the taste of pepper ad every time a put my nails on my mouth it was very spicy and as the time passed i never put them on my mouth. u should by something like that to break the habit, it worked for me and now i dont bite them any more.
im 15 and do that too i cant stop no matter what i do so i paint my fingernails so i dont bite them since i dont want to eat nail polish. even if your not the girly type and dont like painting your naills paint them clear so no one can really tell. thats what i did

Yes, if it's eccentricity we're talking about, yes most definitely. People look at the outside too much. My man has long wavy hair, a big old long beard with a moustace overlapping his top lip. His heart is so beautiful, that I see past all the hair, and if he painted his fingernails, I'd look past that too. He does have long girl-like nails anyway.
