Cleaning fingernails?

I do a lot of gardening and hate wearing gloves so my fingernails get a bit grubby. I've tried the old trick of running nails through a bar of soap to prevent the muck from going up the nail but find it does not work well. I try cleaning with a nail brush but not happy with the results any tips pleaseCleaning fingernails?
Well, I think you just need to wash your hands for a good while and afterwards you can get something thin like a toothpick or one of those nail files with the curved tip to clean underneath your nails because I'd guess that's what ends up looking dirty after you wash your hands a lot with soap.Cleaning fingernails?
cut your finger nails so no muck can get underneath them
Use the back of a small penknife to get shot of the bulk of the gunk then soak your fingers in a solution of shower gel for 20 mins or so. If the muck is really ingrained you'll have to repeat the following day as any ingrained dirt will leach out overnight. Try surgical gloves rather than gardening gloves.
No magic answers - you will just have to find some acceptable gardening gloves. I am a keen gardener and fully understand wanting to work with bare hands for some jobs like weeding and planting out, but then you have to live with poor nails and hands.
I use some old tweezers, wash hands first in soapy water, then clean the dirt out with one side of the tweezers., works for me.
use bleech when cleaning your nails or vinger works a treat
Use something sharp and SCRAPE underneath.. (careful you don't cut yourself though..) preferably under the tap as well...
uhm, use one of those tools the nail clippers have attached to it?
Just you a nail file with a pointy end. you get them any shop. Also you get a complete nail manicure set, its eqipped with everything you need for clean nails, try getting one of those.
Use an exfoliating soap to wash your hands and nails with, and use a toothpick to get the stuff out from under your nails.
Try Lava or another strong soap that is used in the automotive industry otherwise you've got to find a pair of gloves!
