Fingernails removed, the latest trend?

I saw several kids in the mall tonight with no fingernails, just odd looking scars where the nails had been and even saw one with bandages on all 10 fingers. What gives with this? Piercings weren't bad enough?Fingernails removed, the latest trend?
It's sort of weird goth/emo/vampire hybrid ritual the kids are into now a days. Started in LA a few years back and came here to the east coast during this past school year. Whats really gross is seeing kids do this to each other's nails chewing them and most not washing their hands after using the bathroom before.Fingernails removed, the latest trend?

My finger nail once fell out. It looked horrible. Those kids are probably just weird or something happened to them.
