Do fingernails contain genetic material?

Do fingernails contain genetic material?Do fingernails contain genetic material?
Yes and No.

If you ripped out your fingernail and cleaned it, leaving only the hard stuff, it would not contain any genetic material. The hard part of the fingernail is made up of primarily proteins secreted from the cells below.

However, the technical definition of fingernail includes the cells below the fingernail that secrete these proteins. So in that sense, the answer is yes because these cells contain DNA.Do fingernails contain genetic material?
your fingernails contain special cells that help it grow. these contain Dna. Dna=genetic material
Fingernails are cells and hardened protein. I assume you could get some DNA from them.
Yes, since they are formed by your body's dead cells. %26lt;}:-})
ya the hard part ho nail is protien karetin

and at the root cell are present ahich contain dna!
of course, hair and finger nails are protien which are RNA and can be converted into DNA very simply
The nails themself are simply protien, no DNA. at the base of the nail the cells that form the new nail do have DNA.
